One Dead, Two In Custody Following Shootings in Duluth
Duluth, MN (KROC-AM News)- One person is dead, another is injured and two people are in custody as the result of two apparently related shootings in northern Minnesota Wednesday.
Limited information is available, however the Duluth Police Department says officers responded to the report of a shooting in a residential area near Lincoln Park around 1:30 p.m. Police reported finding two victims upon arriving at the scene.
One of the victims, described as a 19-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other victim, described as an 18-year-old man, was taken to a hospital by private vehicle. His condition has not been released as of Thursday morning.
Officers also responded to a second shooting about a half-hour after the first shooting report in a different neighborhood. Officers did not find any gunshot victims at the scene of the second shooting, officials say.
The initial investigation indicates the shootings are related, police say. Duluth Police reported having one suspect in custody shortly before 6:30 p.m. Officers took a second person in custody around 9:30 p.m.
The names of the victims and shooting suspects have not been released. Officials describe the investigation as active and ongoing and say officers are continuing to follow up on leads.
